In the summer of 2017, an Ad Astra mini-course took place at the Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland, CA. Amidst the lush redwood forests of northern California, students experimented with erosion, calculated and constructed a scale model of the Solar System, and collected samples from a local pond for microscopic analysis. As a capstone project, the class visited the Lick Observatory to make telescopic observations of several star clusters.
See below for program highlights! We thank the Chabot Space & Science Center, the Lick Observatory, and Dan Stanton for their support of Ad Astra Oakland.
